Mirror Image

The reflection has changed; I no longer see me Instead a cold glare; Glares back at me Strange as it seems; I’m not confused No longer afraid; of the entrancing stare Staring back at me. Shadows drape over a cold, dark room; Suddenly a piercing screams; Breaks the silence; breaks my heart Quiet as the night; still as can be No longer able to fight for what’s right. I look into the mirror; Embraced by his stare Unable to break free; of his cold, haunting glare. Quiet like the night; Innocent as can be When the sun comes up; he disappears; I am free When the dark returns; I welcome him home Upon his return; I will be ready with nothing to fear.
