Mirror Mirror

I am not the face in the Mirror

the face that's exposed to the world

when a brown paper bag would be easier

to hide behind

to afraid to let the truth shine

The journey to loving yourself

begins with a single

baby

step

In a world where we are all

Tied-up, strung up, children's dolls

A mold comes to fix our imperfections

our voices words and thoughts

I am a man-made man

but I will create myself

as I see fit

trade this woman's body for my own

but changing what I am

doesn't change who I am

Our skin is just one layer

Our substance is something else-

Our imperfections are perfect

Who we are on the inside will always shine right through.

I am a brother, a mentor, a cuddler

I am a puzzler, a carer, a sharer

I am not just my name and number

I am not just my lables.

I am not just a "transman"

I am a Man, a human

Just as we all are.
