mirror mirror on the wall

Long ago I had a fear

Of looking in a mirror

I couldn't stand the sight I saw

It punctured like a spear

I'd see myself and be afraid

Of what I might become

Would I gain weight

Would I run away

I asked nearly pleading

I can't stand it

Not knowing

Would I start conforming

Or will I forge my own new path

-------------------------------------------------

Every new event I faced started a new generation of my life

Everything had changed and I couldn't go back to the way it was

I was afraid of an uncertain future

I wanted control

I wanted to know

"Why can't I just know" I would ask my parents

"Do not worry, everything is happening as it should." They said

"We can't promise life won't beat you down at times."

"But we can assure you, you'll never be alone"

-----------------------------------------------------

And with that, my fears of the future disolved

My worries melting like and ice sculpture in the summer

My head cleared, I went to sleep

Never to worry again
