Mirror, a Villanelle

What is that shining shimmering there?

If I moved but a foot I could know myself.

But, would it be truth I saw that thing so rare?

One foot and I could imagine my heirs.

Should I step, should I move just a foot to the left?

What is that shining shimmering there?

What should I do? If I glance would I stare?

So what if I do? There is no risk to my life.

But, would it be truth I saw that thing so rare?

Is there truth at all in that image so fair,

as it reflects in that frame which covers the shelf?

What is that shining shimmering there?

If I stepped I could see that shimmering cavalier.

That face could make him such a heart thief.

But, would it be truth I saw that thing so rare?

No reality is not reflected, Oh despair!

And gazing so lovingly can cause only grief.

What is that shining shimmering there?

It would not be truth I saw, that thing is rare.

Fortidogi

The rhythm in this poem is what makes it. Amazing job. If I had to criticize it... It'd be hard. You missed a comma in the first line of the last stanza, but maybe on purpose. The third stanza is a little weird???? But it works. Overall... yeah, amazing job.
