Mirrors

Looking into the mirror I see nothing

Nothing that seems to be worth living for at least.

My face once had a life, but now there are…

Lips that show no sign of happiness.

Eyes that are empty.

A body that looks as though it is lifeless.

People ask, “What ever happened to your smile?”

But was it ever truly there?

Or was there an image that was created to cover up the pain inside.

The person who looks back at me in the mirror mocks me.

That’s not a person I ever imagined I would become.

My fingers wrap around the sides of the mirror.

As I lift the mirror a smirk comes upon my face yet I do not know why.

A motion in my heart makes me throw the mirror across the room.

I see it fly and I want to wave goodbye.

I want these horrible feelings inside to disappear within the mirror.

The sound of shattering glass throws me to my knees.

Eyes that snap shut are followed will a river flow of tears.

Hands that cover up my ears because the breaking glass reminds me of my broken heart.

A heart that was taken away by a thief who just wanted conquest instead of glory.

As my eyes creep open I see all of these small pieces of broken glass on the floor looking back at me. transpose

“NO! NO!”

I want you to be gone but yet your still here looking back at me.

Why can’t you just leave me alone?

When will these chains that you have wrapped around me disappear?

When will I ever be able to finally breathe again without wanting to create more scars?

No one is there to help me.

This is a battle that I have to face alone.

Will I survive?

Will I be able to look upon daylights beauty?

Will I live a loving life with my family?

Or will I end up like thousands before me?

Dead by a rope hanging from the ceiling.
