Mirrors

I hunger

For freedom

For an escape

To free my entangled mind

To read between the lines

Of what felt so right

Because I had just been dealing

For far too long

And now it feels so wrong

And nothing quite finishes the puzzle

Even as I keep searching

I feel so empty

So incomplete

A void that refuses to be filled

No matter how long the feeling lingers

I never grow used to it

It always bothers

Always prods my side

Like a rose that seemed so sweet

And I continue to look at myself

In a mirror

That never sees me
