Mirrors are Strange Things

I look at myself in the mirror

Shakened I don’t recognize that figure in that mirror

The sinner who has sinned

The beginner that began her end

Her lies have no end and her feelings where can I begin

I thought I was happy

Content even, with nothing but a bright future ahead of me

Now I’m at a place I thought I’d never be

What is this place who are these people I do not fit in here

Let’s be real I just blend in here

Maybe it’s because I’m trying to find myself

Constantly thinking that I know myself when in reality I am just losing myself

Or am I? I don’t know

Instead, searching for love that I don’t even have for myself

Am I ready for this yes, maybe, I don't know, of course… not really

What can I call this?

I’m in pain can someone pull me out of this t.v. commercial full of fake reality

I can not take it anymore

I pinch myself  to assure this is not a dream this is real life and I dare not lie anymore

My end is near for new beginnings

It’s time I flip the script on what has ended me

I look in the mirror

What can I say, I've come a long way

Not the same girl I was before but I see the change

Is it God I blame, oh no what a shame

Giving up hope I say to myself who else is it to blame

I am tired of holding my breath can I finally breath

I get down on my knees religiously

Yet still, I do not see me

Where am I, Lord

Find me please I need me

I want to recognize that girl

Reincarnated with new breath breathed into her

Who is she?

she is me

Mirrors are for seeing and I have seen many things

You take a look in the mirror and tell me what you see

All of your fantasies and dreams and what you hope to be

I look in the mirror and I just want me

Mirrors are strange things
