Mirrors of Deception
Stand before a mirror, I invite you and you’ll see,
A girl with a future standing tall and free.
And yet she is trapped, in a world of limitations.
A place where your integrity withers beneath your reputation.
In a world where smiling is like a career.
Where the people know not of hunger or fear.
Stand before a mirror; come take a look,
at the girl in the mirror who would rather read a book.
Encompassed by people who live rather odd,
Declaring Wars, for reasons so trivial,
like a nickel, or a God.
Tell me again, what you’d like to hear,
Tell me again, and I’ll make it clear.
Stand before a mirror, just for a second,
Take a close look at the deceiving reflection.
She is a girl, longing for success, but limited by,
The way she is dressed.
Outgoing and full of life, what the world is pleased to see.
The reflection in the mirror that determines your destiny.
A mirror that doesn’t reflect you precisely,
But can sugar coat the truth quite nicely.
Tell me again, that you know who I am,
As you stare into a mirror full of deception.
You don’t understand that your judging eyes,
May lead to a misconception, or a judgment full of lies.
I invite you to stand in front of the mirror
And tell me your actions are truly sincere.
