Misconceptions

Dear child, Innocent and free, Allow me to explain how deceitful this world can be— What we would like to think, Isn’t always what we see. Millionaires, Billionaires, Trillionaires, Rich people everywhere— Selfish, conceded monsters that were never taught in grade school what it meant to share, Because they don’t care— They aren’t aware of what you and I see here on Earth As they fly way up high in the comfort of mid-air. Well look at you now On the rich side of town Flaunting your weed ripe with greed And taunting the poor through a soul so weak but an ego so loud. I've worked for the banks, Killed innocent civilians with tanks, And moved up in the ranks To this top two-percentile place— No more corporate ace. No one can replace This disgrace Of our tattered human race And erase The scars carved deep, deep, deeper into the children's faces. If we keep running at this pace, Before you know it we’ll begin to actually hear a boy’s anxious cries as he dies in melancholy skies casting a rain of mace. This war we’re fighting Is much more than “God blesses” in writing. It is a band of clueless citizens abiding By what a dishonest government is citing In propagandist speeches Which conveniently ignore the truth tucked away in hiding. So, dearest child, make this world out as you please, Just ensure that what you think Vindicates what you see.
