Misconceptions of a Single Mother
The orthodox households of the world look in on my family raised by a single mother
in constant speculation
It is true
We do not do everything the same
because we can't
and it is a common misconception that when things are not the same
that they are not as good
this fact I can not contest as I've never lived on that side of the white pickett fence
But if it is true I say so be it
Because it is within the hearts of these children raised by these single mothers that gold has been formed
My mother does not ask for help
And she does not need it
For as long as I can remember my brother and I have always been more than enough to satisfy her needs
Colleagues and friends attempt to set her up with men of various natures, men who would be willing to change our lives around
but who's asking for our lives to be changed? Who said we needed a change?
Within the disfigured faint outline of my family is a complexity that does not need not be tainted with
So to the world I wish to change your misconceptions about the single mother
She does not wish to receive help from those more privellaged, as they will never know what it truly takes to be strong
She does need a man to complete her family or make it better, for he could only do so if she allowed him anyway
She does not desire the condescending looks of those who think they can dissect right from wrong as though they are the very authors of the holy book itself
Please keep your "help" and keep your opinions
For the single mothers of the world are raising the heroes of tomorrow
