The Misery of Lost Hope

What can I tell you that you do not already know?

That the world is cruel and everyone a foe

The day is cold, the night is long

We cannot seem to carry on

The light recedes, the darkness falls

The misery of a lost hope calls

For at one time, we thought we could

We thought to conquer, to make it good

But we were fools and children then

And we will never see the light again
