Misplaced Power

I would wager

as easily as i breathe

that every woman

has looked in the mirror

with that heavy

self-doubt

and i have something to say

to them

it is in your control

it is in your

your

your

control.

the doubt exists

as a figment

of your wild

refusal

to believe in your own beauty

i do not invalidate

your feelings,

i aim to explain.

i seek to enlighten.

it has never been about

what society does

or does not

accept

it has always

it has always

been about what YOU accept

what you love.

Sincerely,

the size two

white

blue eyed

“figure like a dancer”

who could never

quite find the answer

to the question

of her own beauty
