To Miss McDonald

I've never regretted how I've lived Just doin' what I can Till no more kids come I'm gonna pick up my pen, shovel coal, Sweep the floor, smooth the page. And in the schoolhouse quiet, when the books close, And the voices hush, I will say "Class is dismissed."
