The Missing Chromosome

The heart breaks and the tears begin to swell

as the little boy says, "Why don't people understand me?"

The question lingers in the air and in my mind.

WHY are the students, parents, and outsiders so judgmental?

WHY are the teenagers so hateful?

I strive to end this, I strive to enlighten the upcoming generations.

Its not his fault he has a missing part,

its not his fault he doesn't comprehend the material ,

its not justified to bully and harass a child who is defenseless.

I am here to fight the nonsense.

I am here to educate the young mind that it troubled by a missing chromosome.

I am here to guide and ensure each and every disabled child has a smile.

I am a special education teacher.
