missing home

Cookies for lunch.
Cookies for dinner;
And possibly brunch.
I do not have to be quiet,
as no one is around,
I do not have a bed time;
Party all night on the town.
When I do come home,
I can sleep on the couch;
Mom is not there to be an early-morning grouch.
I scheduled a doctor’s appointment and I have to be there on time;
I have 2 minutes to be there,
And going 95 is a crime.
When all is said and done and I get back home,
The house is so quiet,
I feel so alone.
No mom or little brother,
No dog named Sylvester,
I should have hugged tighter;
I will not see them until next semester.
We all cannot wait to grow up,
To have our own freedom,
But the costs are high,
When you begin to miss your mom.
Hug and kiss more before you board that plane,
Because freedom over happiness is hard to obtain.
