A Missing Piece

The call was horrific

They said your life ended

And at that moment my world instantly diminished

My attitude towards everyone was dismissive

My thoughts were resistant to the news I had been given

I shouted to the sky, “How could such a good person be cut short of living?”

They told me the pain is only temporary, it will soon subside

But how could that be true if my loved one just died?

It took me a while to sleep through the night

I felt like I was missing a part of my life

Held your hand for one last time

Kissed your cheek and said goodbye

Shed a tear for you to stay, but at least I will see you again some day
