The Missing Piece
Who are we really?
Wear this, do that, be him, hate her
What a heavy price to be broken
So expensive to never be good enough
How miserable it is to be miserable
Longing for comfort yet only met with disappointment
So fleeting
A new job, new girlfriend, new house, new day
Then I will be happy
Happiness lies in the future, the present never satisfies
This is the cry of our generation
There has to be something more
What truly satisfies this internal drive for comfort?
I have tried everything what more can I do!
More money, more alcohol, more sex
Is that what I need?
Is that what I am here for?
This is the cry of our generation
Over and over again I fall, I stumble
The world says conform and I will make you happy
What more must I do for comfort, for joy, for peace?
This is the cry of our generation
Enough is enough
On my knees I break
I surrender! I surrender all!
God I am done. I can’t do it anymore!
This fire cannot quench my thirst!
This is the cry of our generation
And so I came alive
I lived not because of anything I did
But because I gave up, I surrendered
The game is over
I have given up yet I have won the race
Not because of what I have done
What have I done but lived in disobedience
Enslaved no longer
I am free from my chains
The weight of the world has been taken off my shoulders
Because He was made nothing, I was made everything
Through Christ I have victory
Through Christ I am clean
Through Christ I peace
This is my cry and this is why I live
