Missing Sun

It’s been years since the last time I held you

Since the last time I’ve seen you smile

It’s been years since I’ve seen my sun shine

Been too long, there’s only clouds now

You were my sun, my only shining light

With a fire no one else had, that burned ceaselessly

With a stubborn attitude and a cute blush

With a sweet smile and tender heart, that’s why I fell in love

Hey, it’s been so long since I last heard your laugh

Too long since the last time I heard you sing

Too long since I last felt your warmth

Too long, too long, it’s just been too long

And now all there is are growing clouds of gray

There’s no light peeking through, no gentle breeze

It’s just cold here as I stand alone

The spot next to me where you should be cruelly empty

You are my sunshine, my only shining light

My sunshine who kept all the clouds away

My sunshine who made my life complete

My sunshine, my everything

But now there’s nothing left for me

Not without the sun to warm my frozen heart

And as I hold this heavy rose bouquet

I wonder why it is that it’s not in your hands

So on my knees comes the falling rain

The bitter tears that taste of sorrow and of a broken soul

And your hand's not there to wipe ‘em all away

Nor your gentle scoldings that brighten up my day

And with the falling tears drops the bright bouquet

Right in front of that marble stone that says your name

And I can’t believe that it’s been so long

So long since I’ve felt your light

You’re my sunshine, my only light

You made me happy, and kept gray clouds away

You’re my only sunshine, so please, I beg the world

“Don’t take my sunshine, my only love away”

But it’s too late now, you’ve gone away

Sleeping soundly in a casket, clothed in white

Where you can’t hear me as I cry out for you

Where you can’t see me here kneeling before you brokenly

It feels as if I didn’t say it enough

That there wasn’t enough time to show you

To make you see just how much it was

How much it was that I love you

You’re my sunshine, my only light

You made me happy, and kept gray clouds away

You’re my only sunshine, my everything

And the world took you away, my only love...

I love you...

I've little to write here. I enjoy writing, and this poetry of mine is something I do to simply pass the time with. They may be good, they may not be, but I write them all the same, letting the little inspirational seeds that created them to bloom into being.
