mission statement

i am more than a statistic,
more than “1 out of every 4 people are depressed.”
i am made of stardust, of the sea and the sand,
and everything else the universe holds.
my existence is against every odd,
and i am strong.

and strong doesn’t mean never crying,
because i refuse to hold the tears back.
i will cry when i am sad,
sleep when i am tired,
eat when i am hungry,
and i will not feel bad.

because just because something
isn’t pretty, doesn’t mean it’s not beautiful.
just because you don’t like the way something looks
doesn’t mean it isn’t right.
i refuse to be told that i am not right.

i will fight for what i love,
even if that means losing friends,
because those who are toxic
are not worth my time.

i am constantly reminded
that the only validation i need
is from myself.
And when i forget,
i will let others remind me
what it feels like to be loved.

because i am a person,
and sometimes i need to be told that
i deserve to be happy.
i will not question those who tell me.

i will not question myself.
