Mississippi

Lazy, muddy river

Stretching down from north to south

Curling like a length of thread

Highway

With steamboats, paddleboats

As automobiles

Drawling, lolling tongue

Land around home to

Huck and Tom

I would lie on the river

And float from Illinois to Louisiana

This poem is about:
My country
