A Mistake

I may have made a mistake
Jumping into battles I wasn’t ready for
Pain shoots through my body; aches
The blink of an eye and I had hit the floor

A band of demons and their overlord,
A towering shadow with piercing horns
Broke through my shell
Nearly struck me at my exposed core

But when it all went to white
All I felt was pain til’
That rat saved me out of spite;
Or is he my guardian angel?
