Mistaken Images

My innocence is cracked,

My mind is hindered,

I'm not shiny like a glossy book cover,

My outer layer is an illusion,

But that hasn't broken me.

I started out new and faultless,

Just like a brand new book,

But life started happening,

People started talking,

I started falling,

Into this world that I don't comprehend.

Then I started searching,

My innocence still lurking,

Like the secrets that lie without the author's hand,

Moving along with great intentions,

Just to be dragged down by bad ambitions.

Luckily I'm strong,

So I can continue along,

Just like a book,

I can still be mistook,

And thought to be less than I really am.....
