Misunderstood
People see what they want to see,
One glance at me and people would think, she's a goody goody.
This judgement used to define me.
The stereotypes caused me to create a person I thought I wanted to be.
I was all but happy, mostly sad,
My families worry made me mad.
I wanted to be be me,
I want to be label free.
Now my heart and body are happy,
But let's not get too sappy.
However, my personality is often misunderstood,
I would change it if I could.
Behind my natural scowl my heart holds a gleaming smile,
People claim a judgement and lock it in a file.
I am me, only me,
My personality and spirit are free.
Why do I need a label,
Would you even get to know me if you were able?
You don't know me, I don't know you,
Why can't everyone stop pretending like we do?
However I am girl,
Whose emotions always swirl and twirl.
I have hopes and dreams,
My strong opinions are always bursting at the seams.
But no I don't need a label, not one word describes me,
I am me, and me is happy.
Me is sad, angry, happy, mean,
I am all these things because I'm a human being.
