Mixed by Nature

I am caught between

The play of light

From scene to scene

Alternating

Absence

Excess

But I digress

to

Moral outrage and despair

uplifting thoughts

I keep them there

In my soul

I've room to spare

like a haunted house

with

"Beware"

Posted before the creaking stair

of the front porch of rotted wood

where you know a kingdom stood

and sat upon the rocking chair

Once in white paint

growing faint

skin cracked in the sun

like a human one

scabbing over as if chafed

because

riding its neck is

a noose

a saint

though the carrier ain't

And never will be

But the idea is free

in our collective burden

That we can exist

homogenous

of heart

like angels

and devils
