MLK 2021

MLK 2021

January 18, 2021

Made pastry crème for a breakfast treat,

Followed by coffee creamy and sweet.

The sun was up on this frosty day.

I made my way out but not to stay.

Bo ran with me,

Happy as could be,

Showing no effects of the bullet lodged in his head

Inflicted while he lay in his leafy bed

From a 9mm gun by someone so cold.

We wish his story could be told.

The horses were standing in the sun,

While I gathered wood to keep us warm.

Thin layer of ice is broken; horses are fed.

The way back by Bo is led.

Time for thinking about today-

The inauguration 2 days away.

MLK must be rolling in his grave.

This is the America he died to save!

How have we veered the wrong way?

With a Capitol storming January 6th, a Wednesday.

The blame is on others,

Fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers

No working together to find a solution

Voting, the economy, taxes, world problems and pollution.

Equality, justice, compassion for fellow mankind

To all these many have become blind.

How you came onto this Earth

Each should begin with the same worth.

The color of your skin has nothing to do

With your value, as life you go through.

So, speak kind words to your fellow man,

AND lend a helping hand—

Whenever you can.
