moana

Moana,

I’m writing you this letter with hopes of bringing out a smile

And don’t you just have the best one?

You’ve been on my mind a lot lately,

I guess you’ve become a neuron that’s found its place within me

It’s funny the things I fantasize,

And when I see you in person I can’t measure the magnitude,

Of my heart, as it does a billion things inside

And it acts like there’s a boxing match going on, the way it beats

As my very being becomes child-like again

I remember the first time we met,

And the rocky ride since then

How you’ve stood firm and unflinching and been my pillar

If the Notre Dame cathedral was made of you,

No fire would’ve been close to triumph

Which is actually quite funny and ironic,

Because you also possess a flame deep within,

That has a candle effect on me and ignites pure joy and happiness,

When we’re together and our eyes interlock and hands touch

From there, I become speechless and struggle to say the right words,

Like I’m Moses in the burning bush

In reality, I just can’t contain how ‘fire’ you are

And where do I even begin with your beauty?

The way you glow, stars take notes

When it came time to make you,

God gathered His most trusted council to discuss the personification of an angel,

And when your very being was envisioned,

Heaven marvelled for earth was about to receive,

A real-life infinity stone, a gem

And so when God took his paintbrush and,

Carefully placed the right curves in the apt places and,

Individually drew each silky strand of your hair on the canvas and,

Put a personality so attractive that it makes black holes exit the discussion,

He knew that what was in front of Him was a work of art, perfect

No matter any imperfection, He still sees you as flawless,

Because that’s what you are

Now, wherever you set foot,

The world stands in awe and so do I

I’ve been meaning to ask,

Are you sure you didn’t inspire Proverbs 31?

I’m sorry for the times my messed up self neglects you

I struggle to be the Ephesians 5 man I promised I’d be,

But you’re always by my side like a president’s bodyguard

And you tell me our 1 Corinthians 13 kind of love,

Can be a reality if we persevere and trust,

And I’m growing to see the truth in that

But not just that,

Every word that comes out of your mouth,

Is so carefully thought out and seamlessly woven,

It’s almost as if poetry convenes in your mouth

In fact, they call Beyoncé a queen,

But that’s only because they haven’t met you

You deserve Buckingham Palace and more,

And I hope to gift you with all of that

But to call you regal would be an understatement

Because you’re more than a crown

Crowns wish they could have your value

The way you’re so golden,

I’m sure the imperialists ponder on colonizing Africa again just to have access to you

You keep me human,

And for that, I can never be fully thankful

I didn’t want to say much, except this,

I love you,

Or at least, I’m learning to

Since God is love, I need Him first before I can truly express the term to you

And because you keep pushing me toward purpose, there’s growth

Something that’s pivotal and marks this relationship

Listen, I just wanted you to know,

That I’m grateful for you

Warmly,

Me
