Mockinbird

The mockingbird has yet found it’s voice

in the echo of the scene

he questioned the ways of the doves

and what they really mean

For the mockingbird just copies

whatever it may hear

So for the new, baby birds

it’s innocence is still here.
It still cannot fly,

it’s safe from all the sights

It hasn’t seen a bat,

or wolf that prowls  at night.

The little baby bird

only sees inside the nest

and to copy what the others say

is what it knows to do best

So the mocking bird just mocks

regardless of what it means

all along it’s innocence

is breaking at the seams

It doesn’t understand

the cruel words he repeats

he heard that word from Blue Jay

while sitting in the streets.
So when the bird has to leave the nest

the cruelness in his head

He lands on top the pavement

for now the mockingbird is dead
