Modern Alice

"Drink me" reads the bottle

That Alice takes at night,

To cast aside the hours

She endured hiding from the light,

Broken glass, and sunken eyes,

Into hollowed cheekbones and white lies,

Told from cracked lips and dying body.

It worked, how she feels so small,

Falling drunkenly into the arms of those who do not care at all,

"Help me" reads the marks,

 she's scratched into the floor.

With bloody fingertips,

and cold cheek pressed to the locked door.

Now no one can help poor Alice, who has spiraled out of control

Went out searching for the white rabbit,

instead tumbled down the rabbit hole
