A Modern Day Riddle by Peter Eccleston

I tell of battles, time did not tell

I listen and edit the sorceress’s ancient spell

I fill the world with truth and lies

I weave my web like a baker makes his pies

I give people what everyone needs

My purpose is simple and is to please

To bring a smile to every face

Everything in my world has its place

I whisper secrets of forbidden love

I make you soar above the clouds like a midnight dove

I describe to you malicious powers

I keep you watching in a tower

I show all my world’s unimaginable wonders

Then I think and sit and ponder

Then I pick myself from the ground

Then I spin my world around

I create the heroes you never knew

I show you mystical creatures at the zoo

I change the past with a clink

Then I realize I’m out of ink

But now I have one question for you

It is simply “I am who?”

I am an author
