Modern-day Siren

On a stage, From the sky Appeared flawless beauties, Their milk-white skin gleaming And their gentle eyes staring into the soul. The audience is instantly smitten By their extraterrestrial beauty. Pianists, violists, and flutists Surrounding the stage began to play. The sirens began their immersive performance. From their rose-stained lips Came an exhilarating song With a uniquely melancholy undertone That evoked nostalgia in the audience. With their angelic voices, They sang of all the calamities and sins That befall the world And of the issues of poverty and global warming. The familiar rhythm eventually ceased And the song came to an end. The audience sprang upright And begin to clap passionately.
