Modern Olympus

Thu, 07/18/2019 - 01:22 -- abutler

Zeus is no longer a lightning bolt

That flashes and scars the sky

But the glint of an electric wire

Shocking every passerby

Ares has put down his sword

And sheathed every arrow

To build better destruction

And teach how an atom can blow

Aphrodite now holds a phone

And takes photos in front of a mirror

Trying to show off to the world

Invigorated by every leer

Athena continues to teach

Her wisdom knows no bound

But rather than books and scrolls

With a click, answers are found

Poseidon continues to roar

Fighting against metal beasts

That dare to sail upon his shores

As he drowns those lost at sea

Hades has always been close

Cloaked in the closing dark

But now forces one’s own hand

To forever extinguish their spark
