A Modern Prometheus
I have dreams of a god and,
The wonders that lives inside his heart.
Their silent treatment of the elderly, now broken
That I knew were once whole.
Suffering is the price for the arrogant one
Who sought to see the depth of mortal life
And only found a poor world
Suffering to flay its own back in knife wounds
Of steel and brutal gladness
Home is a dream to the nameless man
Bound to the mountains of his childhood
Looking down on valleys full of the decaying remains of deer and kings
While the carrion bird lustfully feasts on his liver
From the gods perch he sees half frozen people
Huddled for warmth around a blaring fire
A fire brought to them from a long forgotten god
The wind and ice pelting already pain wrecked bodies
Bodies gnaut with hunger for salvation that will never come
Weep for the gods have abandoned us
