Mom

Dear Mom,

Things are finally falling into place,

I’d be lying if I said its all better now

But I’m getting through it somehow.

2 years have passed

and all I have now is photo albums.

Memories of a life that’s been loved.

You got to see the person I have become.

And my kids.

My daughter and son.

She’s going off to college in Fall.

And he’s going to high school to play football.

Crazy how time flies,

not sure I’m ready for those good-byes.

I tell her everyday, “Hija, me vas a extranar.”

When it is me who will miss her most.

They remember you.

Yet how could they not, you were their grandmother.

There’s not many others.

As for me you were an angel in the shape of my mom.

Thanks for teaching me to be the hardworking woman that I am.

I hope I’m teaching my kids just the same.
