Moments before…

Before reality sets in,

It’s just you and me,

filling my room with nothing

But shy smiles

and warm laughter.

Though our eyes rarely meet,

When they finally do,

I find myself drawn

into a sea of unspoken thoughts.

The world around me comes to a standstill.

I feel my thoughts,

concerns,

And worries begin to fade away.

In that moment,

Nothing else matters except the feelings we share,

bouncing off the walls

of this space.

Your soft skin

And soothing hands give me nothing

But security.

Your soothing words wrap around me like a soft blanket.

They don’t stir fear within me; instead,

They cradle me in safety.

Time stands still,

The outside world fades away,

And all that exists in that sacred space is the depth of your gaze,

The warmth of your skin against mine,

As I kiss your lips

and close my eyes.

All that goes through my head is

Everything feels so perfect that I wish to capture

And hold onto this moment forever.

Yet, reality eventually seeps back in,

a bitter contrast to our perfect moment.

our eyes open,

It’s now nighttime,

And hours have slipped by without us noticing.

The music blaring from my TV is louder than I expected, creating a vibrant backdrop to our evening.

Our phones are buzzing with missed calls

and overflowing text messages, but we’re not paying them any mind. We try to pull away from each other, yet letting go feels almost impossible

as our bodies draw together like magnets.

Just five more minutes

As we hold each other tighter,

no words, no promises

only the silence

of not wanting to let go,

daring to believe

that moments like this

might find their way back to us again.
