Momma

Recite to me a story this winter night I do not mind these fanciful lies The sweetness in your voice disguises them all Lay by my side and linger for a while Concede to me the pleasure of inhaling your soothing, invigorating fragrance Turn off the lights, turn on a dim one For it is your presence which alleviates my uneasiness towards the darkness I listen intently, my imagination is broad The silence in the room, the whisper of the wind Awaiting the delicate turn of the page You have me captivated I strive to resist the teasing of sleepiness Only to wait for the contemplation of a great finale promising a happily ever after Please do this every night momma, until time compels us to stop Because then it won’t be a fairytale And there will now be atrocious, malevolent lies My world will transform into obscurity And the blessing of ilumination may seem inconceivable So let us make memories now Plant in my mind the warmhearted lullaby, So I could then harvest a sense of hope and serenity I will then reminisce my days of childhood with you always by my side It is then that I will bear in mind, That you will forever enlighten my life

This is a great poem, especially for people--like me-- whose mother are not by their side. I like that you had a theme and carried it throughout the story; this was very evident. This seemed to also be very meaningful and refreshing. Keep them coming!
