momma

Dear momma,

You are the reason

I am who I am.

The reason I made the decision

To do something with my life.

You’ve made my breakfast every Sunday morning,

Changed my diapers when I was little,

Kissed all my boo boos to make them better,

And consistently brag about how proud you are of me.

I've written so many poems and essays about you,

Yet I haven't shown you a single one,

And even though I love and appreciate you ,

I've never shown you that side of me,

So why start now?

I think about what I would do

If you weren't around anymore

And I realize I would be lost.

Just like that one time at Disney,

When you would not rest until you found me.

I care about you more than anyone else,

Even though I rarely show it.

But I need you to know that deep down

I love you ma
