Mommy Dearest
Mommy dearest, sixteen years ago you were given a small fragile baby girl.
And when you craddled her in your arms she was the highlight of your whole world.
You sheltered her and cared for her as every good parent should.
You kept her innocent mind pure for as long as you could.
But as she was growing and becoming of age
The bitter cold world showed its true rage.
I knew I was starting to grow up with all of these things I was starting to see.
And this little girl in this story, this girl is me.
Mommy dearest I understand more than you think.
The things of this world was so perfectly written out in ink.
I know I am growing up because I understand more and more.
But my childhood is slipping away, my childhood which I so much adore.
Suddenly my over exaggerated confidence was replaced by fear and confusion.
The thought that the world is perfect was only an illusion.
The world which you had so perfectly masked from my innocent eyes was becoming so clear.
The world we live in is full of evil, hate, and fear.
Mommy dearest, I am starting to make decisions on my own.
Through these decisions it just shows that I have grown.
Like all mother birds do, they push their babies out of the nest.
And this time for me is coming soon, I have to start my own quest.
Mommy dearest I am no longer able to hold yours and daddys hand
For I am creating a life of my own as adulthood draws nearer like the ocean towards the sand.
As I am growing there are times when I will fail.
And during those times I feel so fragile and frail.
Mommy dearest it must be hard for you to watch me fail over and over again.
One day I will stop failing, I just don't know when.
Yes these failures will hurt intensely
But thats how children must learn to behave and think sensibly and realistically.
Now that I am growing I strive for independence.
I've come of age, I've lost most of my innocence.
Now that I am running to the future and away from the childhood I once adored.
I am now realizing I am not a child anymore.
