Mommy's Stroke

I’m sure you’ve heard of having a stroke,

Your chances of having one increase when you smoke.

My mommy didn’t listen she did it anyway,

I was so scared, God nearly took her away.

Daddy told me she’d be gone for a while,

I tried not to cry and forced a half smile.

She lay silently in a hospital bed,

Doctors tried to help by giving her meds.

I didn’t know what to do besides kneel down and pray,

I asked God for help and not long after he saved the day.

Mommy was getting better; I could go visit,

I walked in the room and she told me to sit.

She went on to explain that she’d come home soon,

But for now I could only stay until noon.

God helped mommy and kept her alive,

So she could motivate me and watch me thrive.
