Monkeys

I'm convinced that, as a majority, we are monkeys. Exercising monkey-see-monkey-do everyday.

Half-awake we take to our chairs. We gaze at the teacher with eyes glazed by sleep. We slouched, and stick an earbud in.

Once and a while we listen,
To things we should not hear.
We are told what to do,
how to dress.
What is right,
What is wrong.
What is folly,
What is fact.
We are told what to think,
but never HOW to think...

Then we grow old,
Just as sheep
Or even a lion,
We age.

We acquire diplomas,
Assemble debts,
Conform to a dog-of-a-system that devours our individuality,
Chews on our bones,
Chomping, cracking, breaking;
We bleed.

We are cogs in a machine that, you guessed it,
a monkey can operate.
We slave our lives away for retirement.
We are taught to spend our money on shiny objects that have no real value.
We tune in to drama and tune out of reality.
And for whatever reason, we stopped flinging our shit.

Go ask your grandmother or grandfather when the last time they flung their shit. Those chimpanzees would riot in the streets over ANYTHING!

There was a time when schools taught us to rival other opinions.
Question ideals until proven fact.

Today, we just kinda chill back, smoke a dubey and say it's alright mannnnn. Watch things degrade and spit excuse, yet never take action.
We let teachers mold brains out of soft clay.
We lack a solid vertebrae and quiver in fear,
knees shaking, teeth clattering. We are oppressed and humiliated; Harassed for sharing a different opinion.
We are cowering monkeys in the face of educational adversity.

Now, I'm not different from you.
I'm still a primate,
One with a red ass, a baboon,
Beaten for asking too many questions,
disciplined for stepping out of line... Chastised for choosing to take the red pill...
