Monster

When the monster is awake, it makes us all quake

When the monster is near, we all live in fear

The monster hasn’t always been there.

Seems like he just appeared

Out of thin air

Out of nowhere

The monster was there.

This monster doesn’t live under your bed

Or in your closet

No this monster lives within my mother.

Some people call the monster Crystal

Some call it Chrissy

But in the end the name remains the same

Crystal methamphetamine is the monster that remains.

Her body is like an empty shell of dispair

When I look into my mother’s eyes it is not her I see

No, all I see is the meth monster that dwells deep

When the monster is awake, it makes us all quake

When the monster is near, we all live in fear.

The monster has consumed her, I fear.
