Monster
You can't blame a rose for dying
In a harsh cold winter night
Anymore than you can blame a lier for lying
To hide from the terrors of their daily fight
Wrapped up and bundled tight
Shivering behind a deceiving mask of beauty and light
There I lay, trying my best to come out
To tell my story and what i was all about
A lier, a thief, no martyr, no saint
A cheater, deceiver and other things that would make a weak heart faint.
You can't blame someone who has told you about their past
An optimistic fool you'd be, if you think it will last
I'd already failed you, in more ways than one
A secret lover isn't where it had begun
There was no passion, only loneliness was replaced in my head
But without passion, any hope of love was already dead
You can't blame a monster for trying
To be everything it knew it couldn't be
I'm just sorry, after all that, you had to find out that monster was me.
