Monster

I remember the first time I looked at myself, and gave myself a complement

"You - Are - Not - Annoying"

Those words I longed to hear from others, came out of my mouth as if i was being suffocated by them

The monster inside myself did not like this

The monster wants to keep me down

You think when you get older it will go away

It won't

I still struggle daily with my monster

My monster eats at my confidence

My monster tears at my self esteem

I will not let my monster win

I know that I am stronger than it

Every complement I give myself makes me more powerful

My monster craves my sadness

But I will not give it to her

My monster demands my tears

But I will not shed them for her

My monster wants to be unloved

But I wont let her, I know its not her fault

I will give myself and my monster complements

So that she knows she is loved
