Monster

Where's the light?
I've been running so long
It's shackles must have broken
I don't hear rustling chain anymore
How close is he?

His gaze never left me
Drooling
Sharpening his teeth
Behind his bars
Preparing
Planning

Here I am now
Running from the monster inside me
Through this blind forest
Maybe I'm running in circles
And he's watching me

Run
As fast as you can
This will be his last fight
Don't stop
No matter what you hear
I will try my best
To come home tonight

The leaves are rustling louder
I hear the grunts
Those eyes peering
The stench
A behemoth of no remorse
No more running
I will face my monster face to face

Run
Please
As fast as you can
It's only a matter of time
Before his sights get set on you
