Monster Inside

A cry in the night
that fills you with fright
pounding your heart
as the chase starts.

It fills you with longing
for the light of day;
taking your breath
as you begin to sway.

Black fills your vision
you try to think fast
and come to a decision.

You hide so well,
but it can tell,
because that from which you hide
is already on the inside.
