The Monster Inside
I hold my breath, I have to fight
My stomach is queasy, my chest is tight
Long ago I try to be free
But it’s all in my mind, it’s slowly killing me
For a minute or so I feel normal
Then the hell is back
It tears at me like the lion does the lamb
But screw that, that’s not how I am
I hold my breath, I have to fight
My stomach is queasy, my chest is tight
Long ago I try to be free
The shadows around me are my friends
We talk to each other days on end
The sky is green the grass is blue
Do I sound crazy to you?
I hold my breath, I have to fight
My stomach is queasy, my chest is tight
Buildings fall, my mind the rest
Something beautiful turned a cold, hard, rotten mess
My thoughts are no more but I smile in glee
Now the monsters are after me
I hold my breath, I have to fight
The way they run is strange to me
I crawl along the floor trying to get free
But they are faster, its really weird how they run on two feet
Alas they finally catch me
You hold your breath, you have to fight
I’m coming to get you during the night
You can’t get away from my embrace
But try as you might I am the part you, you can never erase.
