The Monster Named Responsibility
“Alright man, it’s late, I gotta get off, but we’ll play tomorrow” he said
As all he could think about was laying in bed
“Alright” I replied, “See ya tomorrow”
Little did I know that was when my friend’s childhood had ended
I haven’t talked to him since, responsibilities have taken over
I thought that wouldn’t happen to me when I was older
Now here I am, accepted to college
Expected to take in a whole bunch of knowledge
As dust collects on my old childhood imagination machine
Or Xbox, as what all the consumers mean
Responsibility has now taken me
Not as free as I used to be
No more late nights where I would laugh in glee
With my friends who welcomed me in hospitality
I have done what my old friend has done to me
And let the monster take over me, named Responsibility
