Monsters

The world is a mysterious place.
I find myself wrapped up in it.
I try and live my life to the fullest--
But is it really enough?
I sit and look at other people together,
And a black, clouded thought enters my mind.
I think: How dare they be happy?
How dare they be perfect when I am so miserable?
How dare they love when my is non-existant?
How dare they have what I have not?
I watch and I can't bear to anymore.
I try to hide but it follows me.
I try to run but it catches me.
I try to escape but it murders me.
I try to stand and face it, but I am overcome.

I do my best, yet no one is happy.
I care and I love and am tossed aside.
Old memories resurface--
The memories cut like a rusty knife.
I continue to fall down.
Down...
Down...
Down...

Into a world that is not my own.
There is no happiness here.
There are no humans here; only monsters.
They threaten to consume me.
Until I become one of them.
I resist and they persist.
I cringe and they act.
What would I do when all is lost?
All I can think of is one thing.
Goodbye.
