Monsters


The things that hide beneath our beds The creatures that lurk inside our heads They whisper names and scratch the walls While dancing down the haunted halls They breathe a chill into the night And steal away the fading light With glowing eyes and twisted grins They wait to tally up our sins Yet as the dawn tears through the dark Their hollow shadows lose their spark They fade away without a sound Beneath the floorboards, underground The monsters of the deep dark night Are banished by the morning light We lock them in the closet deep Until the next time we must sleep

I actually love that! you took a basic topic and said it in a beautiful way. What I found interesting is the last line. It's like the people or person in the poem are letting the monsters free at night. They are aware that they are there. Just a hunch
