Monsters

The same argument ensues everyday.

Starting with the blank canvas

it begs to be used in anyway

but what can I say that hasn't been said?

Like a vise around my mind words struggle to form

as if I never learned how to form a sound

let alone how to compose a sentence or phrase.

I'm stuck with my thoughts

all of which miss her.

I can't tell you how far we drifted apart

only how long I've searched for your companionship

all the while, you're sitting right next to me.

Your name brings back our plans for the future

the ones we made together.

I find myself bitter with you

because I changed our plans.

not you

although not completely blameless is she.

We transformed into the people we said

we would never become

Your heart still beats for others

only when it needs to appear that way.

What happened to our apartment?

never giving up on one another?

I know I lead an adult life,

but so did you at one point.

I still beared my soul to yours

now you invested all your time in activities.

morphing your soul in a way mine doesn't recognize.

That is not the girl I remember.

Your super girl

but at what cost

I miss the way things were,

when I could peer into your eyes

and talent and glamour were not the concern.

Happiness for the innocents was.

Monsters are we now, for growing into opposite paths.

I, a monster for leaving

You a monster for losing yourself

We vowed to be the change

Now we are two halves of a dead future

This page was meant to say the things I couldn't

But even writing is wrong

without her to proof it.

Puffing Pachyderm

Just lost; occasionally looking for an unclear something or overwhelmed nothing. Mostly distracted trying to chase the wind, an equally impossible task. Never prepared, it slips over and under all about the room never taking shape or forming thought. Scared to move past predictable, dreading the inevitable reoccurrence of the past. Personal torture undefined by tomorrows ideals or today's good fortune. Every nightmare rooted in yesterdays folly. Fear a weight to the heart spawned from multitudes of misinformed decisions. Roaming lost forever.
