Monsters

When you are young your parents say

That monsters are pretend

But little do you know that’s false

They live inside your head

Victimized you are by them

Perfect they may say

For you, my dear, are lonely

And lonely makes good prey

Attack they will, your pure mentation

A threat that poses strong

They demolish everything you have

And now you don’t belong

Left all for you is permanent fear

Engraved upon your skin

All once felt lost for good

Emotionless within

So you see it’s true, monsters don’t exist

At least underneath your bed

Instead they find a place to hide

Deep inside your head
